Zeynep: Nederland, Netherlands; I was born in Turkey and graduated in landscape architecture at the University of Ankara. Since than I live and work in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, I developed my interest in art, design and encaustic, and studied at the Vrije Academie. As en encaustic artist, I use beeswax, damar resin and pigment instead of oils or watercolors to create abstract landscape paintings that seem to float from the surface. Encaustic paintings, unlike other works of art, do not need to be framed. Unframed, they bring their brilliant directness closer to the appreciative eye. Encaustic art is an old technique that has been raised for modern purposes.
